Predators come up empty at NHL Awards, Rinne finishes fourth in Hart Trophy votes
The NHL Awards were handed out on Wednesday afternoon in Las Vegas. The Nashville Predators were nominated for four awards this season, but came up empty.

Barry Trotz, one of four member of the Predators organization up for Awards
The Predators did get two players named to the NHL All-Star teams. Predators captain Shea Weber was named to the first All-Star team while goaltender Pekka Rinne was named to the second team.
Nick Lidstrom just edged Weber for the Norris Award give to the League’s best defenseman. The 9 point difference, 736 to 727 points, was the closest race for the Norris since 1996. That year, Chicago’s Chris Chelios beat out the Bruins Ray Bourque by only five points.
Dan Bylsma picked up the Jack Adams Award for Coach of the Year. Bylsma picked up 196 points to Alain Vigneault’s 169 points. Predators coach Barry Trotz finished third in voting with 80 points. It was the second consecutive year that Trotz was nominated for the Jack Adams.
The Vancouver Canucks General Manager, Mike Gillis, picked up the GM of the year Award. Gillis finished with 96 points ahead of Steve Yzerman who finished second in points with 61. Predators GM David Poile finished third in voting with 55 points. It was the second year that Poile had been nominated but lost. It is also only the second year for the award.
Boston’s Tim Thomas won his second Vezina Trophy in three years. In a landslide vote, Thomas finished with 104 points to Rinne’s 84 points. Roberto Luongo of the Canucks finished with 33 points in voting.
Rinne did, however, finish fourth in voting for the Hart Trophy.
