With backto-back games Monday and Tuesday, Lindback is sure to see some playing time

 

On Monday afternoon, the Nashville Predators play the first of back-to-back games in New York when they visit the Islanders, before playing the Eastern Conference leading New York Rangers on Tuesday night.

Nashville is 11-8-1 on the road this season.

The matinee will be the start of the sixth set of back-to-back games this season for the Predators. Nashville has a 3-2-0 record on the first game and a 2-3-0 record in the second half of back-to-back contests this year.

Nashville’s all-time record against the Islanders is 9-3-2. The Predators are 3-1-2 all-time at Nassau Coliseum.

The Islanders are 5-5-0 in their last 10 games. While New York only has 16 wins on the season, 10 have come on home ice. New York is coming off of a 4-2 win Saturday night against Buffalo. The Islanders are 4-1-0 in their last five games at home.

The Predators are also coming off of a 4-2 victory doubling the Philadelphia Flyers Saturday night at Bridgestone Arena.

Nashville has allowed a mere 16 goals in the last 8 games and the Predators are 13-4-0 since December 8, 2011. The Predators are 20-7-4 in games decided by two goals or less this season, a success rate of 71 percent.

Despite sitting 14th in the Eastern Conference, the Islanders are ranked in the top 10 for both power play and the penalty kill.

The Predators power play success continues to be a story this year ranking 2nd in the League with a 21.6 percent success rate on the man advantage.  The Islanders rank 7th in the League converting on the man advantage 19.3 percent of the time.

The Islanders have the 10th best penalty kill in the League with an 83.2 percent kill off rate.  Nashville’s penalty kill is ranked 19th in the League with an 82.1 percent kill off rate though the team plays better on the road and kills of 85.7 percent of all penalties they take away from Bridgestone Arena.

With back-to-back contests , it’s likely backup netminder Anders Lindback will get a start in goal Monday or Tuesday.  A season ago, Lindback got his only career start against the Islanders and recorded a shutout making 28 saves on December 13, 2010. The Predators won the game by a 5-0 score.

After the Predators stay in New York to play the League leading Rangers on Tuesday night, the team will head to Columbus for their final game this season at Nationwide Arena on Thursday night before returning home to Bridgestone Arena to host the Blackhawks on Saturday night.
