Kostitsyn and Fisher celebrate after scoring shorthanded Tuesday night.

Early in the second period, Mike Fisher scored a power play goal to give the Predators a 1-0 lead. Nashville has the second best power play in the League, ranked second only to the Canucks. But it was Nashville’s short-handed game winning goal that changed momentum permanently in Nashville’s favor.

With Francis Bouillon in the penalty box for tripping, newly acquired defenseman Hal Gill dove in the corner to break up a play with the Sedins and Ryan Kesler pressing for Vancouver. Fisher was able to pick up the puck and went in the offensive zone with Sergei Kostitsyn for the 2-on-1.

“I was just trying to pressure them. Those guys are good players if they have time and space. We tried to force them as much as we could. I just dove there to poke it passed them. Fisher and Kostitsyn did a good job making something out of it,” Gill said.
